The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has concluded a two-day stakeholder review meeting on an Emergency Response Framework (ERF) aimed at addressing human rights violations in Nigeria.
The meeting brought together representatives from law enforcement agencies, legal institutions, and civil society organizations to shape a structured and coordinated national response to human rights abuses.
The ERF outlines key components, including rapid reporting and response mechanisms, legal and psychological support for victims, and coordinated action among stakeholders.
The framework is founded on Nigerian legal instruments and international human rights conventions. The Commission has announced plans to codify the ERF on May 16, 2025, followed by zonal dissemination across Nigeria in July 2025.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to a collaborative approach to ensure access to justice, protection, and dignity for all Nigerians.
