The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged business operators to comply with human rights principles and practices in their operations, in line with international standards. The Executive Secretary, Dr. Tony Ojukwu, emphasized the need for stakeholders to work together to create a human rights-friendly climate for business operations.
The NHRC pledges to work closely with government, businesses, and civil society to ensure Nigerian laws and practices are human rights compliant. The Commission also lauded the establishment of the National Working Group on Business and Human Rights, tasked with building capacity and coordinating national efforts.
The Attorney General of the Federation disclosed plans for nationwide awareness campaigns on the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights, as well as institutional capacity building and targeted engagement with public and private entities.
