The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Kaduna State Office took immediate action in response to a disturbing case of child abuse involving Abubakar Sani, a young boy who was subjected to brutal treatment by his father.
After allegedly taking a biscuit from his father's shop, Abubakar was tied up, starved, and denied adequate hydration, leading to severe infection and maggot infestation in both legs where he was tied.
Despite medical efforts, the infection had progressed to a critical stage, necessitating the amputation of both legs to prevent further harm.
The NHRC's intervention in collaboration with relevant stakeholders led to Abubakar's rescue and medical care.
His father who is responsible for this dastardly abuse, is currently in police custody.
The Commission condemns in strong terms all forms of child abuse and neglect, and will continue to monitor Abubakar's case to guarantee his protection and rehabilitation.
Let's work together to prevent child abuse and protect our children's future!
