In commemoration of International Women's Day, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and Thelema Lion Foundation have provided empowerment tools to women as they hosted the 2025 Women Arise Symposium.

The event, themed "Accelerating Action Towards Uplifting Vulnerable Women in Nigeria," brought together stakeholders to address the challenges faced by vulnerable women and children.

Dr. Tony Ojukwu OFR, SAN, Executive Secretary of the NHRC, represented by the Director of Legal Services and Enforcement Hajia Rabi Anwal, emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable populations.

He commended Thelema Lion Foundation's humanitarian efforts and called for collective action in building a society where women and children can thrive.

The Founder of the Foundation, Dr. Ifeoma Agu, highlighted the organization's achievements, stating that they have empowered over 400 women in the past two years.

According to Dr. Agu, the foundation aims to uplift an additional 2,500 women in 2025.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of empowerment gifts to selected beneficiaries. The gifts, which included grinding machines, sewing machines, and cash grants, aimed to foster financial independence and self-sufficiency.

The Women Arise Symposium is an annual initiative dedicated to support and empower vulnerable women across Nigeria.

The event reinforces commitment of both organisations to economic empowerment and social upliftment.

The successful symposium demonstrated the power of collaboration and collective action in driving positive change for vulnerable women in Nigeria.
