The Chief Consultant Pathologist of University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada (UATH) on Wednesday appeared before the Independent Investigative Panel on human rights violations by the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other police units following summons to clear the air on the cause of death of late Ifeoma Abugu whom the police alleged died in custody following substance abuse.

One of the eight complainants from Southern Kaduna, Kaduna state, Tony Duchi who alleged that the police unlawfully tortured, detained and imprisoned them based on ethnic origin on Wednesday told the IIP-SARS that they knew nothing about allegations of conspiracy, assault and theft for which they were unjustly treated.

The Independent Investigative Panel on allegations of Human Rights Violations by the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other units of the Nigerian Police on Monday warned that it might issue a warrant of arrest on Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Danjuma Ochejeh of Delta state Police Command over allegations of human rights violations by the Police against Ochekpe Community of Anambra state and three other complainants.
