NHRC Releases October 2025 Human Rights Situation Dashboard The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) presents the October 2025 edition of its Human Rights Situation Dashboard, providing a comprehensive overview of complaints received by the Commission and human rights violations reported across Nigeria.
In October, the Commission recorded 406,088 complaints, representing an 8% increase compared to September. Data from the Human Rights Observatory identified several concerning trends, including physical and sexual violence against children, a rise in suicide cases nationwide, extra-judicial killings, and killings resulting from mob action and cult-related violence. There was also an increase in attacks leading to the deaths of members of the military, law enforcement, and other security agencies.
October also witnessed a disturbing rise in rape and defilement of minors, alongside attacks on religious freedom, banishment, and emerging concerns related to the right to food and food security.
The Human Rights Situation Dashboard continues to serve as a critical tool for informing interventions, strengthening accountability, and promoting a human rights–based approach to governance and national development.
