SEPTEMBER 2025 HUMAN RIGHTS DASHBOARD

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) presents the September 2025 edition of its Human Rights Situation Dashboard, offering a detailed overview of violations reported across Nigeria. This month, the Commission received 371,622 complaints, reflecting widespread abuses including unlawful detention, sexual violence, torture, and denial of access to justice. The Human Rights Observatory highlighted growing insecurity, with the North Central region recording the highest number of incidents, followed by the North West and North East. Violations of the right to life remained the most prevalent, driven by banditry, terror attacks, and fatal road accidents.

September also saw a disturbing rise in rape and defilement of minors, alongside attacks on religious freedom in seven states. This dashboard continues to serve as a vital tool for guiding interventions, strengthening accountability, and ensuring that human rights remain central to governance and development.
