The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) presents the August 2025 edition of its Human Rights Situation Dashboard, providing a comprehensive overview of human rights trends across the country. This month, the NHRC recorded 365,224 complaints (a 10% increase from June-July) highlighting critical issues such as law enforcement abuses, freedom from discrimination, economic social and cultural rights.
The Observatory revealed a troubling increase in attacks on vulnerable groups, including Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) against minors, with rape cases reported for girls between ages 2 and 7. Deadly farmer-herder clashes in Benue and FCT, land dispute killings in Ebonyi, and suicides in Osun and Imo emphasize the urgent need for action. The dashboard continues to serve as a vital tool for tracking trends, identifying systemic violations, and informing policy and advocacy efforts. It helps stakeholders understand where interventions are most needed and ensures that human rights remain central to governance andĀ development.
